AGRARSENSE is a Joint Undertaking of the Horizon EU project of up to 52 partners, which promotes the technological growth of agriculture in, for example, artificial intelligence and automation and analytical tasks. The project develops sensor and decision-making technologies for smart farming in seven different use cases.
The Lapland University of Applied Sciences brings forestry expertise and the development of virtual technologies to the project.
In the AGRARSENSE project, The Game Dev Team has developed a simulator to support the development, training, and validation of autonomous driving and safety systems for forestry usage. The simulator serves as a versatile tool, primarily designed for two key functions: real-time simulation and data collection.
The simulator includes forestry vehicles, drone, dynamic weather system, variety of sensors used in autonomous vehicles and ROS integration for transferring data in and out of the simulator.

The project develops SoA technologies for the needs of future agriculture, which cover various challenges related to agriculture and forestry, as well as enabling technologies for ICT infrastructure and electronic equipment. These are critical for future business and economic needs.
The AIFor (AI training of automated forest machine ) -project, which is related to the AGRARSENSE project, aims to develop these new methods and a virtual environment for autonomous forest machine AI training. The AIFor-project is implemented by Lapland UAS and it’s co-financed by Business Finland.
