Virtual heating container is a demonstration produced with virtual reality technology part of Circular Economy Competence to Universities of Applied Sciences -project. In this project different Universities of Applied Sciences have in cooperation produced different kinds of learning environments for circular economy studies.
The virtual heating container demonstrates a real-life problem situation with thermal power, in which case a portable heating container is brought on the scene to produce heat. The user of the virtual demonstration can move around in the boiler room and adjust the temperature and other values of the boiler with virtual reality controllers.

The virtual heating container demonstrates that it is possible to build a “digital twin” to thermal power plant, and this is being implemented in a project for second degree education. The heating container also serves as a learning environment for students as well as for businesses working in the field. This type of learning environment enables training with the problem situations without having to cut down the power plant’s real energy production. Such environments also make it possible for students to practice from a distance.
